Air Show 2019
RAF Cosford Air Show 2019
Once again, the RAF Cosford Air Show delivered a spectacular day, full of thrilling displays across the Shropshire skies and fun-packed family entertainment throughout the showground.
50,000 visitors of all ages joined us on Sunday 9th June to celebrate the 70th anniversary of NATO with appearances from various air forces from the NATO member countries, as well as the 80th anniversary of the formation of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force with an ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary) display in the Vintage Village.
As always, the Red Arrows stunned the crowd with their breath-taking display. The F-18 Hornet and Typhoon contributed even more speed and noise to the displays and the ground pyrotechnics from the Apache display certainly heated things up!
On the ground, there was a special static display celebrating 50 years since the Harrier entered RAF service and a Jet Provost display celebrating 65 years since the first flight of the BAC Jet Provost.
There was additional fun for the kids with a funfair, simulators and inflatables.
RAF Cosford is the home of RAF engineering and we are passionate about promoting the range of careers in science, technology, engineering and maths – STEM. The STEM Hangar was full of interactive activities for all the family, such as fun physics experiments, a hydraulics challenge and coding with a Raspberry pi. The RAF hangars gave visitors a taste of life in the RAF with sports challenges, STEM exhibits and opportunities to meet some pilots.
The RAF Cosford Air Show is the only official RAF air show and it is a great opportunity to learn more about the RAF, as well as an exciting summer day out for the whole family.
