VAAC Harrier T4

The “Vectored-thrust Aircraft Advanced Control” (VAAC) Harrier (registration XW175) is unique as a military aircraft as it spent all of its working life at RAE Bedford and Boscombe Down as an experimental aircraft in support of innovative STOVL research programmes. One of the aircraft’s most notable roles was flying for QinetiQ and being used to develop Flight Control Systems for the new F-35B Lightning II, using an array of advanced sensors and computer equipment. The aircraft arrived at RAF Cosford in 2015 after a lengthy period of storage at Boscombe Down and will be on static display at the Air Show.
