Westland Whirlwind HAR10
The Westland Whirlwind helicopter is a British licence-built version of the American Sikorsky S-55 helicopter. The Whirlwind was used by both the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy in a variety of roles including VIP transportation and anti-submarine warfare. The HAR10 variant was built for RAF Search and Rescue operations, with 68 helicopters in all serving with the iconic yellow SAR colour scheme. Today only one example of the Westland Whirlwind remains airworthy, registered as G-BVGE, and it still wears its original RAF Search and Rescue colour scheme and military registration of ZJ729. The helicopter will be performing in the Flying Display at the Air Show, one of only a handful of public appearances for this rare helicopter.
