Serving from Royal Navy aircraft carriers in the 1960s and 1970s, the Sea Vixen is a twin-turbojet fighter aircraft capable of speeds up to 690mph. The Sea Vixen was operational at the height of the Cold War and was fitted with cutting edge technology at the time, along with a striking design. British engineers designed an aircraft with power-folding swept wings and a hinged nose-cone in order to operate in all weather conditions. Now operated by Navy Wings, the Sea Vixen is one of the last cold war jets still flying. The appearance of the Sea Vixen will be one of the highlights of the flying display on Sunday 11th June.
