The first delivery of A400M Atlas for the Royal Air Force occurred in November 2014; and the RAF will acquire a further 21 of the aircraft by 2019. The Atlas has impressive tactical capabilities and is due to replace the C-130J in this role. The aircraft is capable of carrying a load of 25 tonnes including tanks, helicopters or humanitarian aid, over a range of 2000nmls at speeds comparable with pure-jet military transports. You will be able to see an Atlas on static display at the Air Show, provided by 70 Squadron.
